2026 Physician Award Nominations Deadline Extended through February 13, 2026

Nominations are open, and the deadline has been extended through February 13, 2026, for the 2026 Hastings Center Cunniff-Dixon Physician Awards, which recognize physicians who provide outstanding care to patients nearing the end of life.

The 2026 awards include:

  • Three Early-Career Physician Awards: Each award provides $15,000 to a physician with up to 10 years of practice who demonstrates excellence in palliative care.
  • Dr. Richard Payne Senior Leadership Award: A $25,000 award for a senior physician with 15-plus years of practice who is recognized for outstanding contributions to palliative care and dedicated service to underserved communities.

The awards are funded by the Cunniff-Dixon Foundation, which is committed to enhancing the provider-patient relationship at the end of life through education, collaboration, and recognition. 

The Hastings Center for Bioethics, an independent, nonpartisan bioethics research institute that has done groundbreaking work on end-of-life decision-making, co-sponsors these awards.
